Analysis of underwater welding in Indonesian warship using low hydrogen electrodes

As a security unit for the territorial waters of Republic Indonesia, Indonesian Navy is required combat readiness to carry out operations quickly and precisely. It very important Navy's ABK Soldiers Indonesia's defense equipment warships in carrying activities Indonesia. This study discusses underwater wet welding anticipating an emergency if ship's hull hit by collision so that has cracks or holes. research method uses AH36 steel plate metal. Then, was carried on using low hydrogen type electrode. Before welding, electrodes were subjected drying process temperature 900C. Wet at depth 5 meters seawater. The results are NDT testing; penetrant test, radiography then also DT test; hardness tensile test according ASTM standard. Analysis compared atmospheric as quality control, percentage difference mechanical properties can be known. interesting thing from with applying minimal level weld porosity defects results. So electrode used applications.
